HCMC – The construction of Terminal 3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport is 83% complete, with its opening scheduled for April 30, 2025—two months ahead of the original plan, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) announced.

The announcement was made on December 27 during a ceremony to launch a 120-day push to complete the project. ACV, the investor of the VND10.99 trillion development, emphasized its commitment to ensuring the terminal’s timely readiness.

ACV Deputy General Director Nguyen Tien Viet stated that contractors have been directed to mobilize all necessary resources to meet the April 2025 deadline.

Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet are set to operate from the new terminal, which spans 112,500 square meters. Terminal 3 will feature 89 check-in counters, 42 self-service kiosks, 26 boarding gates, and designated areas for VIPs and premium passengers.

A new elevated road system with multiple vehicle lanes will connect the terminal to Tran Quoc Hoan-Cong Hoa Street, offering an alternative route to the airport. Currently, Truong Son Road is the sole access point.

Nguyen Van Hung, chief of staff at ACV, explained that Terminal 3 is designed to alleviate congestion at Terminal 1, which is operating beyond its capacity, while complementing operations at the upcoming Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province.

Construction on Terminal 3 began in late 2022 and includes a passenger terminal, a multi-story parking structure, elevated access roads, and expanded aircraft aprons. Significant progress has been made, with major components such as the building structure and ventilation systems already completed. Installations of security equipment, baggage conveyors, and escalators are scheduled for early 2025.
