HCMC – The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has called on transport providers to expand services to accommodate the anticipated surge in travel demand during the 2025 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

The CAAV has urged provincial and city authorities with airports to increase the availability of buses, taxis, and ride-hailing services. Extended operating hours and additional vehicles will focus on supporting late-night flights and easing congestion for holiday travelers.

The directive aims to address potential delays caused by insufficient ground transport. Departments of Transport have been instructed to review bus schedules and introduce additional services during peak travel periods. Taxi and ride-hailing operators have been asked to increase fleet capacity to meet demand.

Local authorities will collaborate with police and airport officials to enhance security measures and ensure compliance. Inspections will target unauthorized transport services, price inflation, and other issues that may disrupt passenger experiences.

To further accommodate the Tet rush, the CAAV has increased flight capacity at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC. The airport can now handle 48 flights per hour during the day and 46 at night. Starting mid-January, daily flights are projected to reach 800, serving up to 130,000 passengers.

Passengers are advised to prepare travel documents in advance, verify flight schedules, and limit drop-offs or pick-ups at airports to reduce congestion during the busy holiday period.

The CAAV has deployed inspection teams to ensure safety and operational readiness, underscoring the importance of smooth travel during Vietnam’s busiest season.
