HCMC – The People’s Committee of Vuon Lai Ward in HCMC on May 4 broke ground on a VND985 billion project to expand a section of Tran Binh Trong Street, with completion targeted before September 2, 2026.
The project is designed to improve connectivity with nearby routes, including Hung Vuong and Ly Thai To streets, and to ease traffic on Hung Vuong, Ly Thai To, Le Hong Phong and other roads in the area.
The section will span about 361 meters, including major intersections, running from Ly Thai To Street to Hung Vuong Street. The road will be widened from around 5 meters to 23 meters, accommodating four lanes.
The project will be implemented alongside drainage system upgrades, granite pavement works, and the undergrounding of power and telecommunications infrastructure. It will also be integrated with the landscape of Ly Thai To Park No. 1.
A total of 116 cases will be affected by the project, including 97 requiring full land clearance.
According to Huynh Van Tam, chairman of the Vuon Lai Ward People’s Committee, the project includes the renovation of a decades-old culvert system that has deteriorated and poses subsidence risks.
The project is part of broader urban upgrading efforts linked to the completion of Ly Thai To Park No. 1, a memorial space for victims of the Covid-19 pandemic.
