HCMC – More than 85% of workers in HCMC have returned to work following the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, according to the HCMC Labor Federation.

As of February 3, 85.33% of workers—921,123 employees—at 12,601 businesses that have trade unions in HCMC had got back to work. In industrial and hi-tech parks, 91.29% of businesses (157 companies) with 45,736 workers have restarted operations.

State agencies and enterprises reported an even higher return rate, nearing 99%. The remaining businesses are expected to resume operations between February 5 and 7.

To support workers traveling home for Tet and reduce post-holiday labor shortages, the HCMC Labor Federation provided various assistance programs, including gifts and free train and bus tickets.

However, the federation warns of potential work stoppages and slowdowns due to the high number of businesses with outstanding social insurance debts.

Affiliated units are tasked with closely monitoring labor relations and ensure workers receive full salaries for January and February 2025, along with bonuses. Companies with unstable labor conditions are being watched to provide timely support.
