Foreign funds reduce stakes in Sacombank

HCMC – Foreign investment funds have adjusted their holdings in Sai Gon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank).

According a report by the bank on February 5, Norges Bank, a member of the Dragon Capital fund, has trimmed its stake from 1.27% to 1.1%, so now it holds a total of 20.97 million shares.

Meanwhile, another member of Dragon Capital, Amersham Industries Limited, is no longer a shareholder holding over 1% of the bank’s charter capital.

Pyn Elite Fund, the largest foreign shareholder in Sacombank, has offloaded more than 10.8 million shares, sending its share holdings down to 115.8 million shares, or 6.14% of the bank’s charter capital.

The five largest shareholders now control 259.2 million shares, representing 13.73% of Sacombank’s total shares.

Closing the trading session today, February 7, the lender’s STB shares edged up by 0.27% to VND37,450 per share, with a trading volume of over 11.9 million shares.

The benchmark VN-Index rose 3.72 points, or 0.29%, ending at 1,275.2 points, driven by gains in banking stocks.

The southern bourse saw 237 winners and 212 losers. Trading volume reached 619 million shares up 8.84% from the previous session, while trading value improved 13.71% to VND14.7 trillion. Block deals account for 69.7 million shares worth VND2.1 trillion.

The VN30-Index, which tracks the 30 largest-cap stocks, added 4.21 points to 1,340.80 points, with 17 bluechips gaining and 11 others dipping. Bank stocks led the advances, with CTG rising 3.3% and TCB up 2.2%.

Bank stocks provided the largest boost to the market. The top five contributors to the main index’s gains were all lenders, with CTG, BID and TCB alone adding nearly four points to the index.

Liquidity was also concentrated in bank shares. TCB was the most actively traded stock, with 26.6 million shares changing hands. CTG, MBB, and SHB each saw a matching volume of around 14 million shares.

Mid- and small-cap stocks also saw strong demand. Infrastructure developer CII hit its ceiling price of VND14,450, with 17.59 million shares traded. Several other small-cap stocks, including LGL, FCM, QCG, and TMT, also reached their daily upper limit.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index gained 0.36 point, 0.16%, to end at 229.49 points, with 107 stocks advancing and 65 others declining. Trading volume reached 56.3 million shares valued at VND808 billion.
