HCMC – Gold prices in Vietnam surged on February 13, with SJC gold bars selling at VND90.7 million per tael and gold rings surpassing VND90 million per tael, according to market data.
At 11 a.m., Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) and Bao Tin Minh Chau quoted SJC gold bars at VND87.7 million per tael for buying and VND90.7 million per tael for selling, marking increases of VND1 million and VND500,000, respectively, compared to the previous trading day’s closing price.
The spread between buying and selling prices remained wide at VND3 million per tael, according to bieudogiavang.vn.
Other major gold retailers, including DOJI and Phu Quy, listed SJC gold bars at VND87.4 million per tael for buying and VND90.4 million per tael for selling, up by VND700,000 and VND200,000, respectively.
The price of gold rings also increased significantly.
SJC quoted gold rings at VND87.7 million per tael for buying and VND90.5 million per tael for selling, rising by VND1 million and VND800,000 per tael, respectively. Phu Quy Company adjusted its prices to VND87.7 million – VND90.5 million per tael, reflecting a VND500,000 increase in buying price and a VND300,000 increase in selling price.
Similarly, Bao Tin Minh Chau raised its plain gold ring prices to VND88.8 million – VND90.65 million per tael, up VND500,000 on both ends.
Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar exchange rate also saw slight adjustments. The State Bank of Vietnam listed the central exchange rate at VND24,572 per U.S. dollar, up VND22 from the previous session.
Vietcombank set its buying and selling rates at VND25,350 – VND25,740 per U.S. dollar, increasing by VND40. BIDV and VietinBank also raised their exchange rates by VND40, quoting VND25,380 per U.S. dollar for buying and VND25,740 per U.S. dollar for selling.
In contrast, Eximbank lowered its rates by VND20, setting the buying price at VND25,330 and the selling price at VND25,720 per U.S. dollar.
