HCMC – Initially scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2024, the 220kV Vung Ang substation project in Ha Tinh Province has been delayed until the first quarter of this year due to land clearance and compensation issues.

Local authorities recently met with the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and relevant agencies to address ongoing challenges related to the substation and its connection transmission line, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

The 220kV Vung Ang substation is being constructed in Trai Hamlet, Ha Tinh Province, while the connection transmission line runs through Ky Loi Commune, Ky Thinh Ward, and Ky Trinh Ward in Ky Anh Town.

As of now, 90% of substation construction work has been completed, with the project expected to be finalized by February 2025. For the transmission line, foundations have been excavated and cast for 24 out of 45 positions, with poles erected at 5 positions.

However, land clearance remains a challenge. Compensation plans have been approved for 26 out of 45 foundation positions, affecting 31 out of 77 households. Land handover has been completed for 33 positions, but 12 positions remain unresolved.

Additionally, 19 out of 45 spans of the transmission corridor are still awaiting clearance, with 94 out of 154 affected households yet to hand over their land.

To keep the project on track for energization in Q1 2025, EVNNPT has requested the Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee to direct the Ky Anh Town People’s Committee and the compensation council to continue persuading households to allow boundary marking, surveying, and inventory checks. This process is expected to be completed by February 17, 2025.

For the transmission corridor, EVNNPT has urged local authorities to approve specific land prices soon to expedite the next steps.

The compensation council and relevant organizations have also been asked to continue negotiations with uncooperative households, with a deadline for completion set for February 28, 2025.
