HCMC – Orient Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HOSE: OCB) has received approval from the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) to increase its charter capital to nearly VND4 trillion through a share issue funded by shareholders’ equity.
Upon completion of the plan, OCB’s charter capital will rise from VND26.63 trillion to more than VND30.63 trillion.
The proceeds from the capital increase will be used to strengthen the bank’s funding base for business operations and investments, further enhance its technology infrastructure to support modernization efforts, facilitate the development of new products, and improve customer experience, all of which are key drivers of its long-term growth strategy.
For 2026, OCB targets pre-tax profit of VND6.96 trillion, up 39% from 2025.
The bank also plans to increase its charter capital from VND26.63 trillion to almost VND30.63 trillion and expand total assets by 10% from the end of 2025 to an estimated VND354.21 trillion.
Closing the trading session today, June 3, OCB rose 3.46% day-on-day to VND11,950 per share, with more than five million shares changing hands.
On the southern bourse, the VN-Index fell 7.46 points, or 0.41%, to 1,819.01, marking its seventh consecutive losing session, with 173 winners and 133 losers. However, losses narrowed from early-session levels, and the benchmark index remained above the key support level of 1,800 points.
Trading volume reached 723 million shares, with total transaction value amounting to VND20.56 trillion, slightly higher than the previous session.
Vingroup-related stocks remained the main drag on the market as they shaved nearly 14.5 points off the VN-Index. VIC fell 3.56% to VND197,600 per share, accounting for almost 12 points of the benchmark’s decline. Meanwhile, VHM dropped 1.59% to VND148,400 and VRE lost 3.06% to VND30,050.
On the upside, banking stocks helped cushion the market’s decline. Only three lenders ended lower, STB, TCB and LPB, with LPB posting the steepest loss, down 5.7% to VND48,000 per share. In contrast, ACB gained 3.6%, OCB rose 3.5%, MBB advanced 2.2%, and SHB added 1.5%.
Notably, ACB attracted the strongest investor interest, leading the market by trading volume with 60.8 million shares changing hands.
On the northern bourse, the HNX-Index rose 2.69 points, or 0.85%, to 317.48. Trading volume totaled 48 million shares, with transaction value reaching VND887.5 billion, down 22% and 10% against the previous session, respectively.
