HCMC – Vietnam’s gold prices climbed to a new high of nearly VND114 million per tael this afternoon, April 16, extending the spike after two upward adjustments earlier in the day.

At around 2 p.m., major jewelry firms, such as SJC, DOJI, PNJ, and Bao Tin Minh Chau quoted gold bar prices at VND111.4 million for buying and VND113.9 million for selling per tael, up by a sharp VND5.9 million against yesterday’s close. The buy-sell spread remained at VND2.5 million per tael.

At Phu Quy Jewelry, gold bar prices rose by VND6.6 million per tael on the buying side and VND5.9 million on the selling side to reach around VND111.4 million and VND113.9 million, respectively.

The differences between selling and buying prices narrowed to VND2.5 million per tael.

Gold ring prices also surged by millions of Vietnamese dong per tael, with some companies listing ring prices higher than gold bars.

For example, SJC quoted plain gold rings at VND111.4 million per tael for buying and VND113.93 million per tael for selling, up by VND5.9 million on both sides compared to the previous day.

Bao Tin Minh Chau raised its plain gold ring prices to align with its SJC gold bar rates, listing them at VND111.4 million per tael for buying and VND113.9 million for selling, up VND7.3 million and VND6.9 million from the previous day, respectively.

As of now, both gold ring and gold bar prices have risen by VND5–7 million per tael in just one day.
