HCMC — A series of events will be held in HCMC this month and next to promote cashless payments and support the country’s digital economy.

The State Bank of Vietnam, in coordination with the People’s Committee of HCMC, the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (Napas), Tuoi Tre newspaper, the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade, and the Banking Times, has launched the Cashless Day 2025 campaign under the theme “Cashless Payments Foster Digital Economy.”

The campaign aims to engage at least 50 million people, generate over five million interactions on social media and news platforms, and attract 200,000 participants. HCMC targets a 20% increase in non-cash transactions during June.

Cashless Day 2025 will include a festival held on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street in HCMC from June 14 to 15, featuring digital payment experiences and interactive activities. Organizers expect 90,000 to 100,000 visitors.

A conference titled “Cashless Payments: Driving Forces for Digital Economy Growth” will be held on June 14. The event will review progress under the 2021–2025 non-cash payment development plan and discuss strategies for 2026–2030. Participants will include government officials, banking executives, fintech firms, and economists.

Other activities include a financial gameshow for young people and a livestream campaign to promote digital shopping in partnership with major e-commerce platforms and online influencers.

The campaign will coincide with HCMC’s annual Shopping Season program, running from June 15 to September 15 and November 15 to December 31. Retailers will offer discounts of up to 100%, combining in-store and online promotions.

The City Sale promotion will extend to online platforms to reach a broader customer base, particularly young and remote consumers. Mobile sales and price stabilization programs will also be organized to support low-income workers.
