HCMC – The Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam under the Ministry of Industry and Trade has extended an anti-dumping investigation into certain coated steel products imported from China and South Korea.
The probe, identified as case code AD19, will continue for an additional two months, moving the new completion deadline to August 14, 2025. MOIT formalized the extension with Decision No. 1543 on June 2.
The extension aims to allow for a comprehensive review of issues related to the anti-dumping measures.
The investigation began on June 14, 2024, following a request filed on May 11, 2023. Five domestic steel manufacturers, including Hoa Sen Group, Southern Steel Sheet Company, Ton Dong A Corporation, China Steel and Nippon Steel Vietnam JSC, and Nam Kim Steel, petitioned the ministry.
The Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam determined the petitioners represented the domestic industry and provided sufficient evidence indicating that dumped imports had caused significant injury to local producers.
MOIT has distributed questionnaires to gather information on alleged dumping practices, assess industry damage, and establish a causal link. The ministry may implement provisional anti-dumping measures to prevent further harm to the domestic industry.
Before a final decision, MOIT will verify information from all parties and hold public consultations.
