HCMC – The launch of Emirates’ direct flight from Dubai to Danang on June 2 is driving a wave of high-end tourism to Danang, positioning Vietnam’s central coastal city as a new luxury destination for tourists from the Middle East.

Travel Daily News Asia described the new direct route to Danang as a “gateway for billionaires from one of the wealthiest regions on earth,” noting the significant spending power this market brings to Vietnam.

Danang has invested heavily in luxury hospitality infrastructure. The city is home to a wide range of high-end accommodations and globally recognized brands such as InterContinental, Novotel, and Mercure, along with international names like Hyatt, Sheraton, and Marriott, which are popular among Middle Eastern elites.

In addition to resorts, Danang is developing niche offerings like golf tourism. Simon Mees, general manager of Ba Na Hills Golf Club, said the new Emirates connection “elevates the profile of Central Vietnam as a golfing destination to new heights.”

The city is also expanding its Halal tourism services to better accommodate Muslim travelers. Sun World Ba Na Hills, one of Danang’s key attractions, has introduced Halal-certified restaurants and personalized services. According to Director Nguyen Lam An, this move reflects a broader effort to meet religious and lifestyle preferences of Middle Eastern tourists.

The Emirates route is part of a broader pivot by Danang’s tourism authorities to diversify its market reach, extending beyond Northeast Asia to include the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.

In addition to Emirates, Kazakhstan’s national carrier, Air Astana, launched direct flights between Almaty and Danang on June 4, operating twice weekly.

As Danang positions itself as a luxury and Muslim-friendly destination, tourism officials expect continued growth in arrivals from the Middle East and beyond. With expanded flight networks and tailored services, the city is aiming to secure a larger share of the global upscale tourism market.
