HCMC – AEON Group is planning to open three more shopping malls in HCMC in the near future, according to Tezuka Daisuke, general director of AEON Vietnam.

During a meeting on July 2 with Nguyen Van Duoc, chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee, Tezuka outlined AEON’s current operations and future development strategy in Vietnam, with a particular focus on the southern metropolis.

Building on the success of its first shopping mall in Tan Phu District, AEON intends to expand its footprint in HCMC by opening three new malls, including two in newly developed areas of the city, he said.

The three malls are expected to require trillions of Vietnamese dong in investment and create jobs for around 1,000 to 1,500 workers during operation.

In addition, AEON plans to expand its retail network in the Mekong Delta region and increase the volume of Vietnamese goods exported to overseas markets.

He expressed hope that the city’s leadership would continue to support and facilitate the group’s expansion plans in HCMC.

Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc affirmed that the city values the presence and contributions of strategic investors like AEON, and pledged to support the group in expanding its investments and implementing new projects in line with prevailing regulations.

He also voiced expectations that AEON would continue to work closely with the city in priority areas such as sustainable and green retail, logistics, promotion of Vietnamese goods, workforce training, and the development of a modern consumer ecosystem.
