HCMC – HCMC plans to integrate its its flood reporting and decision support platform, known as FEDS, with key smart city systems as part of efforts to strengthen flood monitoring, forecasting and urban management, the city government said.
The city will expand FEDS citywide and connect flood data with the Intelligent Operations Center (IOC), the OneMap digital mapping platform and the OneApp digital citizen application, according to discussions between city officials, representatives of Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the World Bank on June 5.
The integration is intended to improve monitoring, decision-making and public services. The city also plans to apply big data and artificial intelligence technologies to analyze, forecast and issue flood warnings and to support urban planning and infrastructure development.
The system has been updated to align with the two-tier local government model and now incorporates administrative boundary data for 168 wards, communes and special administrative units.
More than 100 officials and civil servants have been trained to operate the platform.
City officials and development partners also discussed challenges including the need to improve data-update coordination, strengthen operational capacity at the local level and integrate flood data covering the former Binh Duong and Ba Ria–Vung Tau.
Vice Chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Cuong said the city was committed to ensuring the sustainable operation and effective use of FEDS as part of its data-driven urban governance strategy.
