HCMC – Venezuela has allocated 100,000 hectares of agricultural land exclusively for Vietnamese investors as part of its effort to boost bilateral cooperation in agriculture, according to the country’s Vice President Jorge Márquez.

The decision was made during a working visit by a delegation from Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to Venezuela from June 5 to 9. Led by Professor Nguyen Hong Son, general director of the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS), the delegation also attended the 2025 AGROALBA International Agricultural Fair and held meetings with senior Venezuelan officials, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

Vice President Márquez, who also chairs the Venezuela-Vietnam Intergovernmental Committee, pledged that the Venezuelan government would actively support Vietnamese businesses seeking to invest in agriculture and personally oversee the implementation of related cooperation initiatives.

As part of its broader strategy, the Venezuelan government has earmarked 3.3 million hectares for crop production and 13.7 million hectares for livestock development under agricultural cooperation programs within the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), identifying Vietnam as a priority partner.

During a field trip to Guárico, a key agricultural state, Governor Donald Donaire highlighted previous cooperation between the province and Vietnamese partners from 2016 to 2018 and expressed optimism about reviving and expanding these ties.

Professor Nguyen Hong Son affirmed Vietnam’s willingness to share agricultural knowledge and experience and emphasized that with strong political commitment, inter-agency coordination, and the active participation of both countries’ business communities, agricultural cooperation could become a strategic pillar in the Vietnam-Venezuela comprehensive partnership.
