HCMC – The component projects of Long Thanh International Airport are being accelerated by the investor and contractors, with a goal of reaching substantial completion by the end of this year, following the Government’s directive.
The Ministry of Construction reports that Component Project 1, comprising office buildings for state management agencies, is on track for basic completion by December 2025.
However, due to delayed groundbreaking, the investor is urged to accelerate construction and closely monitor progress on the two animal and plant quarantine facilities to ensure they are completed on schedule.
As for Component Project 2, which includes air traffic management facilities, the control tower has reached a height of 107.93 out of its planned 115 meters. Construction is currently focused on the upper section, with full completion expected by September 30.
Construction of key air traffic management facilities, including primary and secondary radar stations, radio transmission and receiving stations, dependent surveillance stations, weather radar, and VOR/DME navigation systems, is nearly complete, with full completion targeted for August.
The construction of air traffic management facilities is expected to be completed by October 2025. However, equipment-related contract packages are at risk of delay and may not be finished until December 2025.
Component Project 3, which includes essential airport facilities, has seen substantial progress, with Package 4.6 (Runway No. 1) now nearly complete.
Construction has reached about 90% of the total workload in terms of value, though it is currently 3.2% behind schedule. Full completion is anticipated by December 2025.
As for Runway No. 3, currently under construction by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), it is expected to be largely completed by December 2025.
For Package 4.7 (apron area for the passenger terminal) and Package 4.8 (internal traffic systems and technical infrastructure), ACV has been tasked with directing contractors to mobilize additional resources and speed up key construction activities to ensure substantial completion by December 19.
Additionally, Package 5.10 (the passenger terminal) has completed all underground reinforced concrete structures. Steel structural work is about 79.94% finished, with the full roofing system expected to be completed by November 30.
The installation of the glass façade has reached roughly 9.3% and is projected to be finalized by November 2025.
