HCMC – Ca Mau Province has set a target of expanding its protected marine areas to 53,600 hectares by 2030 in an effort to safeguard aquatic ecosystems.
The provincial People’s Committee said that by 2030, the province would set up four more artificial habitats for marine species. Authorities will also tighten oversight of aquatic resource protection zones and temporary fishing ban areas to conserve biodiversity and promote sustainable marine economic development.
Ca Mau also plans to restructure its fisheries sector, aiming to cut the number of fishing vessels by at least 12% compared to 2020, ensuring the long-term sustainability of marine exploitation.
