HCMC – A total of 64,200 train tickets for the Lunar New Year (Tet) 2026 holiday have been sold in the first month of sales, equivalent to around 73% of the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Railways Transport JSC.

Ticket sales for Tet 2026 began on September 20. Of the total sold, about 66% were purchased online, reflecting passengers’ growing preference for online bookings.

The Tet travel peak will run from February 3 to March 8, 2026. During this period, Vietnam Railways will operate 55 trains with more than 800 cars, offering around 330,000 tickets nationwide.

Tickets remain available for trips between February 3 and 9, and between February 14 and 16, 2026, for all destinations. For the busiest travel days, from February 10 to 14, around 2,500 seats are still available across all trains.

Passengers can buy tickets via official websites such as www.dsvn.vn, vetau.com.vn, vetauonline.vn, and giare.vetau.vn, or directly at train stations, authorized agents, or through the Saigon Station and Hanoi Station hotlines.

Vietnam Railways is offering fare discounts of 3% to 20% depending on passenger type and ticket class. During the Tet peak period, the railway firm will also provide additional seats for children aged 6–10, military and police personnel traveling on official duty, and new recruits.
