HCMC – Domestic gold prices edged up slightly this morning, November 6, with SJC gold bars traded at around VND147.8 million per tael, while the central exchange rate rose by three dong against the previous day.
At 10 a.m., Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) and Doji listed gold bar prices at VND145.8 million for buying and VND147.8 million for selling, up VND300,000 per tael from late yesterday.
Phu Quy Jewelry kept its SJC gold prices unchanged at VND144.5 million for buying and VND147.5 million for selling. Its ring gold was also stable at the same levels.
At Bao Tin Minh Chau, ring gold prices increased by VND200,000 per tael to VND145 million for buying and VND148 million for selling, remaining around VND200,000 higher than SJC gold.
Despite mild movements, the gap between buying and selling prices of SJC gold bars stayed wide, ranging from VND2 million to VND3 million per tael, while the spread for ring gold was around VND3 million.
On the global market, gold was traded at around US$3,985 per ounce, equivalent to some VND126.5 million per tael when converted using Vietcombank’s exchange rate. Domestic SJC gold prices thus remained about VND21.3 million per tael higher than global levels.
This morning, the State Bank of Vietnam set the central exchange rate at VND25,100 per U.S. dollar, up three dong from November 5. Commercial banks also adjusted rates slightly upward, adding four dong per dollar.
Within the trading band of 5% on either side of the central exchange rate, Vietcombank quoted the greenback at VND26,105–26,355 (buy/sell), VietinBank at VND26,126–26,355, BIDV at VND26,135–26,355, and Eximbank at VND26,100–26,355 per dollar.
