HCMC – Domestic gold prices were unchanged on the morning of November 21, despite a slight uptick in the central exchange rate and mild gains in global gold prices.

At the 9:15 a.m. session, Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) and Doji listed their gold bar prices at VND148.3 million for buying and VND150.3 million for selling per tael. Phu Quy quoted SJC gold at VND147.3 million and VND150.3 million, unchanged from the previous close.

Gold ring prices also moved sideways. Bao Tin Minh Chau kept its ring gold prices at VND147.8 million for buying and VND150.8 million for selling, while Phu Quy’s ring gold dipped VND200,000 to VND146.8 million for buying and VND149.8 million for selling.

On the global market, gold traded at around US$4,075 per ounce, up US$17 from the previous session. Based on Vietcombank’s exchange rate, this converts to roughly VND129.6 million per tael, leaving international gold around VND20.7 million lower than domestic SJC-branded gold bar prices.

The State Bank of Vietnam this morning set the central exchange rate at VND25,136 per U.S. dollar, up VND6 from November 20. Commercial banks followed the same trend, raising their dollar prices by VND6.

Within the trading band of 5% on either side of the central exchange rate, Vietcombank and VietinBank listed the greenback at VND26,142–26,392 (buy/sell). BIDV quoted VND26,172–26,392, while Eximbank offered VND26,160–26,392 per dollar.
