A powerful storm has unearthed an ancient wooden ship on the beach of Hoi An Tay Ward in Danang City, revealing a rare maritime artifact believed to date back several centuries. Experts say the vessel, discovered near the Cua Dai estuary, likely originates from between the late 14th and 16th centuries.

Local authorities quickly cordoned off the area after the wreck emerged almost fully intact from the sand. Archaeologists described the find as one of the most significant shipwreck discoveries in Southeast Asia, citing its age and state of preservation. The site is now under protection as teams work to confirm the vessel’s origin and prepare a detailed excavation and preservation plan.

Residents said this is not the first time the ship has resurfaced. It was briefly exposed in 2023 before shifting sands buried it.
