HCMC – Domestic gold prices stayed high on November 24 as SJC gold was unchanged while global prices slipped, widening the gap to VND21–22 million per tael.

SJC gold bar prices were unchanged from the weekend, with Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ) and Phu Quy Jewelry listing buying prices at VND148.4 million per tael and selling prices at VND150.4 million.

However, gold ring prices fell by VND200,000 to VND400,000 per tael. SJC quoted its gold ring prices at VND146 million for buying and VND148.6 million for selling, while Phu Quy listed VND146.8 million and VND149.8 million, respectively. PNJ posted buying and selling prices at VND146.1 million and VND149.1 million.

With these levels, SJC-branded gold bars remain about VND22 million per tael higher than global prices, and gold ring prices about VND21 million higher.

Global gold dropped US$10 to US$4,055 per ounce as the metal lacked support despite geopolitical tensions and expectations of potential monetary easing in the U.S.

On the same day, the State Bank of Vietnam set the central exchange rate at VND25,144 per dollar this morning, up VND8 from late last week. Within the trading band of 5% on either side of the central exchange rate, Vietcombank increased its buying rate to VND26,181 and selling rate to VND26,401. ACB kept its buying rate unchanged at VND26,180 but raised its selling rate to VND26,401.
