HCMC — The Consulate General of Indonesia in HCMC launched a tourism promotion event titled “Indonesia: Your Gateway to Paradise” on November 29, marking 70 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Indonesia.

The two-day program, part of celebrations for the Vietnam–Indonesia diplomatic milestone, includes the Vietnam–Indonesia Tourism Connectivity Conference on November 29 and a tourism exhibition on November 30.

Consul General Carolina Tinangon highlighted the initiative’s role in promoting tourism collaboration and people-to-people exchanges. “We invite Vietnamese travel businesses, particularly in HCMC, to strengthen ties with Indonesian partners and jointly develop high-quality travel products,” she said.

Highlighting Vietnam’s tourism growth, Tinangon pointed to nearly 17.5 million international visitors in 2024 and estimated total revenue of US$32.96 billion, describing these as tangible benefits for the Vietnamese people.

Pham Huy Binh, director of the HCMC Department of Tourism, noted that 79,677 Indonesian visitors arrived in the city in the first 10 months of 2025, nearly 47% of total arrivals from Indonesia to Vietnam. He called Indonesia a key market for the city and stressed the potential for expanding tourism products such as coastal tourism, cuisine, culture, and MICE.

During the conference, the Indonesian Tour and Travel Association (ASITA) and the HCMC Tourism Association signed a memorandum of understanding to foster cooperation between Bali and HCMC tourism associations.
