HCMC – A high-speed ferry service between Vung Tau and Con Dao Island resumed operations on February 26, carrying more than 500 passengers on its first trip after a five-month suspension.

The route had been halted since September 2025 during the rough sea season. The vessel was taken to a shipyard for routine maintenance.

The operator reported that ticket sales reached nearly 50% of capacity on the first day. The vessel used on the route, the Thang Long ferry operated by Phu Quoc Express JSC, can carry up to 1,017 passengers.

The company introduced more flexible pricing to restore passenger volumes. Captain Duong Thanh Ha said fares will be cut by about 40% starting March 15, with the lowest ticket priced at VND410,000 and VIP tickets at VND790,000.

The ferry departs Vung Tau at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Return trips from Con Dao leave at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The journey takes about three hours and 30 minutes.

The service provides a direct sea connection between mainland areas near HCMC and Con Dao. Its return coincides with rising travel demand to island destinations after the Lunar New Year holiday, offering an additional transport option for passengers in the region.
