HCMC – The Ministry of Health has announced the 17th death of Covid-19, previously tagged as the country’s 431st case. The 55-year-old man had suffered end-stage kidney disease, hypertension, sepsis and Covid-19.
The resident of Danang City’s Lien Chieu District had a medical history of type 1 diabetes, chronic kidney failure and hypertension, according to Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son.
From July 26 to 30, he was treated at the Nephrology Department of Danang Hospital. His sample was taken for Covid-19 testing on July 26 and the positive test result came out a day later.
He was transferred to Hue Central Hospital on July 31 for treatment and was diagnosed with severe pneumonia caused by Covid-19 and serious underlying health conditions.
He was in a coma and put on a ventilator while receiving continuous blood purification between July 31 and August 4.
The patient slipped into a deep coma from August 6 to 10. At 3.00 a.m. on August 11, he suffered a cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at 0.30 a.m. today, August 12.
Up to now, Vietnam has reported 866 Covid-19 cases, with 399 of them having made a full recovery and 17 fatalities.
