HCMC — Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh left Hanoi today for a four-day official visit to Russia to step up bilateral cooperation in energy and trade.
Invited by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, this marks the first high-level visit by a Vietnamese leader to Russia in 2026. The delegation’s members include Deputy Prime Ministers Tran Hong Ha and Bui Thanh Son.
The visit follows Vietnam’s successful 14th National Party Congress and elections for the 16th National Assembly and people’s councils at all levels. Amidst global energy volatility triggered by the Middle East conflict, the trip is expected to produce breakthroughs in oil, gas and energy cooperation.
Both nations look to signing some key agreements to reinforce their comprehensive strategic partnership and lay the groundwork for long-term economic stability.
Beyond energy, the mission aims to expand investment, science, and technology exchange, reflecting Vietnam’s determination to leverage international support for its ambitious GDP growth target of over 10% this year.
