HCMC – Five earthquakes struck Danang City and neighboring Quang Ngai Province this morning, April 22, with no damage or disaster risk reported, according to Vietnam’s earthquake monitoring agency.
The tremors occurred between around 5 a.m. and shortly after 8 a.m. in Tra Linh Commune in Danang and Mang But Commune in Quang Ngai, according to Nguyen Xuan Anh, head of the Institute of Earth Sciences.
Four of the quakes were recorded in Tra Linh, with magnitudes ranging from 2.6 to 3.1. A fifth quake of magnitude 2.8 struck Mang But.
All five quakes had focal depths of about 8.1 kilometers, the institute said.
Authorities classified the events at disaster risk Level 0, indicating no threat from the tremors.
The Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center said it was continuing to monitor seismic activity in the area.
Three additional earthquakes, ranging from magnitude 2.8 to 3.4, were also recorded in Mang But late yesterday, according to the institute.
