HCMC – Cooking gas prices increased by VND2,250 per kilogram, including value-added tax, from the morning of May 1, according to southern gas trading firms.
Long Yin Long An Energy JSC said gas prices of City Petro, Vina Pacific Petro and Vimexco brands rose by VND2,250 per kilogram from 7:30 a.m. on May 1. As a result, prices of 6kg, 12kg, 45kg and 50kg cylinders increased by VND13,500, VND27,000, VND101,000 and VND112,500, respectively.
After the adjustment, retail prices stand at VND352,000 per 6kg cylinder, VND644,500 per 12kg cylinder, VND2,415,500 per 45kg cylinder and VND2,682,500 per 50kg cylinder, compared to levels on April 23.
Other brands, including ELF, VT and Total, also raised prices by VND27,000 per 12kg cylinder.
A gas company representative attributed the increase to a rise in premium costs, which include transport, insurance and logistics fees, ranging from US$75 to US$80 per ton.
Meanwhile, Saigon Petro and Petrolimex have kept their prices unchanged since the adjustment on April 23. Petrolimex Can Tho said its retail prices remain unchanged from early April levels.
Regarding supply, on April 29, PetroVietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS) said it had received the PACIFIC SUCCESS vessel carrying over 71,000 tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) imported from Australia to its Thi Vai LNG terminal in Tan Phuoc Ward, HCMC, ahead of the April 30 and May 1 holidays.
PV GAS also imported more than 45,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the U.S. via the JENGGALA 21 vessel to meet domestic demand.
The corporation is arranging additional shipments in the second quarter of 2026, including one cargo scheduled for delivery in May or June. For LPG, PV GAS plans to import around 100,000 tons in May, bringing its total second-quarter imports to nearly 300,000 tons from sources including the U.S., the Middle East and other regions.
