Bay Canh Islet spans 683 hectares and is renowned for its layered ecosystem on the Con Dao Archipelago off HCMC, ranging from tropical rainforest to vibrant coral reefs. A standout feature is the pristine Bo Dap mangrove forest, which formed on ancient coral foundations, creating a rare ecological link between mountains and sea.
The islet is also home to Bai Cat Lon (Big Sand Beach), the largest sea turtle nesting site on Con Dao. During the peak season, from April to September, up to 30 mother turtles may come ashore each night to lay eggs.
Strict conservation measures are in place to protect marine biodiversity, including sea cucumbers, mollusks, and endemic species such as black squirrels. An 1884 lighthouse on the northeastern tip adds historical charm and offers sweeping views of Con Dao’s seascape.
Visitor experiences range from four to six hours to overnight stays, featuring coral snorkeling, turtle watching, coconut crab spotting, and lighthouse visits. To protect the environment, access is limited to 48 daytime and 25 overnight visitors. Advance registration with the national park and a guided tour are required, along with basic safety gear.
