HCMC – Ho Chi Minh City police have received and provided support to 33 Vietnamese citizens deported from the United States, helping them stabilize their lives and reintegrate into society.
The reception process took place at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi amid tighter international controls on illegal residence and unauthorized labor overseas, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
The effort was part of the effort of relevant authorities to address the consequences of illegal migration while implementing humanitarian support measures for citizens returning home in deportation and repatriation cases.
Authorities said support efforts went beyond administrative procedures and focused on practical assistance. Police officers contacted family members, guided returnees in restoring personal identification documents, and helped them complete residence registration procedures.
In one case, the task force coordinated with medical personnel to provide emergency treatment for a citizen with a history of epilepsy immediately after arrival. For individuals without guarantors or clear places of residence, HCMC police worked with relevant agencies to place them in social protection centers for temporary care and accommodation.
According to official data, hundreds of Vietnamese citizens have been deported to HCMC in the first five months of 2026, mainly from the United States and Cambodia.
Following the cases, HCMC police urged citizens to carefully study international laws and avoid involvement in illegal immigration networks or unauthorized overseas employment schemes. Authorities warned that such activities could expose individuals to significant legal and health risks while negatively affecting the image of Vietnamese communities abroad.
Local authorities have also called on relatives of returnees whose contact information remains unavailable to come forward and complete necessary sponsorship procedures.
