HCMC – The border guards of Lao Cai Province have broken up an illegal drug trafficking ring, seizing 40 bars of heroin and detaining three traffickers.
At 1:00 p.m. on December 27, anti-smuggling forces of the province discovered a motorcyclist transporting a suspicious bag and a pickup truck following the motorbike on National Highway 70 in Tien Phong Hamlet in Bao Thang District.
After the competent forces stopped the vehicles, the motorcyclist admitted the bag contained heroin, the local media reported.
The group of three drug traffickers comprised Vang Seo Quang aged 48, Vang Seo Sau aged 46 and Ma Sin Lu aged 27. All of them reside in Muong Khuong District in Lao Cai Province.
The local authorities are investigating the case.
