HCMC – Even though two international flights resumed transporting passengers to HCMC and Hanoi City in late September, further flights have been suspended pending guidelines on quarantine and quarantine fees in line with the new protocols set to be applied in the country.
A representative of the Ministry of Transport told Thanh Nien Online last night, October 7, that the ministry was gathering feedback and opinions on quarantine procedures from Hanoi and HCMC.
Vietnam Airlines operated a regular international flight to transport passengers from South Korea to Hanoi City on September 25, while Vietjet Air launched another one to carry passengers from the eastern Asian country to HCMC on September 30.
As initially planned, the two airlines would operate one weekly flight connecting South Korea with Hanoi and HCMC, but last week, the other flights were temporarily suspended.
There is no unanimity on the management solutions and steps on quarantining arriving passengers from regular international flights, according to the representative of the ministry.
While the resumption of international flights was allowed by the Government based on advice from the relevant ministries and departments, the suspension of several flights is aimed at bringing about unanimity and common regulations on quarantine and quarantine fees in localities, said the representative of the ministry.
Earlier, some passengers onboard the two flights from South Korea to Hanoi and HCMC had complained that quarantine fees at hotels were not unanimous and were also higher than the fees announced before.
Before entering Vietnam, passengers arriving via commercial international flights are required to undergo a Covid-19 RT-PCR test three days prior to their arrival date and register for quarantine at one of the hotels or facilities designated by the provincial or municipal governments.
