CAN THO – The Long An government has allowed asymptomatic Covid patients and direct contacts of Covid cases to voluntarily return to work during their quarantine period.

The decision was made to ease a shortage of employees at many firms and State-owned agencies in the province.

Under the decision, Covid patients with no symptoms and direct contacts are allowed to work either online or offline. Firms were told to consider prioritizing them with online tasks to avoid direct contact with other people, and arrange a separate working area for those working offline.

These employees, who are asymptomatic Covid patients and direct contacts, are required to go to their workplaces from their quarantine facilities via private vehicles and avoid direct contact with other people on the way. They must strictly follow Covid safety protocols, including wearing face masks and maintaining a safe physical distance from each other, on working.

The Covid-infected employees must regularly monitor their health and promptly inform a healthcare center and their firms in case of abnormalities.

As for employees who come into close contact with Covid patients, they must either undergo a PCR Covid test or a rapid antigen test on the fifth day after Covid exposure or on developing symptoms.
