HCMC – The Hanoi-Haiphong Expressway Operation and Management Company will suspend manual toll collection on the expressway starting from May 5 and switch to piloting electronic toll collection (ETC) at the request of the Transport Ministry.
The company will also temporarily stop offering the toll payment service using the Touch and Go card on the route from that day, said Bui Thi Quynh, deputy director of the company.
She recommended that vehicle owners, who have been using the prepaid Touch and Go cards, use up the balance in their cards prior to April 10.
Those who have balance but cannot use it will receive support to transfer the balance to the accounts of other vehicles. By April 30, the balance left in their accounts will not be returned.
To ensure hassle-free trips, vehicle owners should use the ETC service on the expressway. Etag and Epass service points were set up at the exits and entrances of the toll stations to help drivers install the tags on their vehicles.
