HCMC – The Ministry of Health this evening, April 18, reported 12,012 fresh daily Covid-19 cases nationwide, declining by 2,649 cases against yesterday.
Hanoi still had the highest number of new cases, at 1,109, followed by Yen Bai with 715, Phu Tho with 700, Nghe An with 638 and Vinh Phuc with 616.
Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang had 589, 513 and 511 cases, respectively. Other provinces had 400 cases or below each.
The Department of Health of Thanh Hoa today registered to add 31,260 earlier-detected cases to the national Covid monitoring system.
Over 4,200 Covid patients were declared free of Covid while 13 others died of the disease.
To date, the country has reported nearly 10.5 million cases, with more than 8.9 million of them having recovered and 42,957 others dead.
The northern province of Thanh Hoa has decided to shut down Covid quarantine and treatment facilities due to the low number of cases under centralized treatment. Since April 27, the province has recorded more than 165,800 cases, of whom nearly 165,600 recovered and 75 died.
The province also asked the provincial Military Command to close quarantine facilities at barracks.
