HCMC – HCMC needs 59,600-65,500 workers in the second quarter of the year as the Covid pandemic has been brought under control, according to the Center of Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labor Market Information HCMC (Falmi).
State-run firms in the city are facing a shortage of a mere 1.2% of the total needed employees, while non-State enterprises are badly in need of a staggering 89.6% of the total and foreign-invested companies expect to recruit an additional 9.2% of the total.
The city is in need of workers mainly in the fields of commerce-service, industry-construction, agro-forestry-fishery, mechanical electronics, food processing, information technology, finance-banking, logistics, lodging and catering, healthcare and education, Lao Dong Online reported.
Meanwhile, the northern region is facing a serious labor shortage in the information technology (IT) sector.
Ngo Thi Ngoc Lan, director of Navigos Search North, said that demand for IT workers has soared, while there is not enough experienced staff, making recruiting talent challenging.
Echoing the view, Vu Quang Thanh, deputy director of the Hanoi Job Service Center, said that many tech firms are planning to expand their reach in 2022, so demand for tech workers is expected to be high. As the IT sector is less affected by the pandemic, hiring is on the rise.
Many firms need to fill up to 10,000 positions of IT programmers, computer network experts, software engineers, IT system administrators and cloud engineers.
