Asia Ingredients Group (AIG) broke ground on the Asia Coconut Processing Plant II (ACP2) at the Long Phuoc Industrial Cluster in Vinh Long Province on May 11, 2026. The project marks AIG’s next step toward celebrating its 25-year journey of pioneering innovation and sustainable development, while contributing to enhancing the global standing of Vietnamese agricultural ingredients.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Nguyen Truc Son, member of the Standing Committee of the Vinh Long Party Committee and vice chairman of the Vinh Long People’s Committee; Chau Van Hoa, Vinh Long Party Committee member and vice chairman of the Vinh Long People’s Committee; representatives from provincial agencies and local authorities, delegates from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), alongside domestic and international partners, businesses, guests, and local residents.

Asia Coconut Processing Plant II is the second coconut processing project developed by Asia Coconut Processing JSC (ACP), a member of AIG. Building on the success of Asia Coconut Processing Plant I, the new facility aims to capitalize on Vinh Long’s advantages as a leading coconut growing region, helping drive the next phase of growth for Vietnam’s coconut industry.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Nguyen Truc Son, member of the Standing Committee of the Vinh Long Party Committee and vice chairman of the Vinh Long People’s Committee, commended AIG’s continued expansion efforts: “The group’s ongoing investment reflects growing confidence in Vinh Long’s transparent and business friendly environment. I hope that the plant will soon become operational and help expand the global reach of the province’s coconut products.”

Over more than a decade of development, AIG has expanded its coconut processing operations through Asia Coconut Processing Plant I, supplying international markets with products such as UHT coconut water, desiccated coconut, coconut milk powder, frozen coconut milk, UHT coconut milk and coconut oil. To meet growing international demand, Asia Coconut Processing Plant II is being equipped with advanced processing lines and machinery sourced from leading European suppliers, with the aim of meeting stringent global quality standards.

The Asia Coconut Processing Plant II project will feature three major production systems, including a UHT sterilization line supplied by Sweden’s Tetra Pak, one of the world’s leading food processing and packaging technology providers, with a designed capacity of 48,000 tons annually. The facility will also include a frozen coconut cream production line with a capacity of 16,000 tons per year, alongside two desiccated coconut processing lines with a combined annual output of 2,400 tons. All machinery and processing equipment will be imported from Europe to ensure compliance with strict international quality requirements.
Frederick Cruchet, Project Centre Director ASEAN at Tetra Pak, said at the ceremony: “We are proud to stand as your selected End-to-End partner – providing the complete processing and packaging solution for this pivotal expansion which signifies that your business has been growing and we are grateful to be part of your growth journey.”

The plant is being developed with a total investment of nearly VND630 billion on an area of close to 60,000 square meters. Commercial operations are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027. Once operational, the facility is expected to help expand industrial scale coconut growing areas in Vinh Long, generate employment opportunities, raise local incomes, and support sustainable agricultural development in the province.
In particular, the development of Asia Coconut Processing Plant II reflects AIG’s broader ambition to position Asia Coconut Processing JSC (ACP) as Vietnam’s largest coconut processor, while supporting the country’s long-term vision of becoming a leading global hub for high-quality agricultural ingredient processing and exports.

Vietnam is currently one of the world’s leading producers and exporters of agricultural products, ranking among the top 20 global economies by export scale and gross domestic product. As a leading Vietnamese group in natural ingredient manufacturing and integrated ingredient solutions for the life sciences sector, AIG has spent nearly 25 years promoting the strengths and potential of Vietnamese agricultural products. The company has pursued this vision through three strategic pillars: sustainable development of sourcing regions; research and development integrated with advanced processing technologies, and building international brands for Vietnamese agricultural products.

To date, AIG has built an ecosystem of subsidiaries operating deep processing facilities across key agricultural regions nationwide, spanning northern, central, southeastern, and Mekong Delta provinces. The group’s processed agricultural products are now exported to more than 50 countries and territories, including the U.S., the EU, Japan, South Korea, and emerging Halal markets in the Middle East.
Driven by its vision of strengthening the global position of Vietnam’s agricultural ingredient industry, AIG continues to invest in technology, equipment, and production capacity while fostering innovation and sustainable growth. The group also works closely with global partners to advance sustainable development strategies and deeper international integration.
As part of the project, AIG has partnered with the IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, to advise Asia Coconut Processing Plant II on developing ESG standards, as well as emissions management and reporting frameworks, helping align the plant’s operations with international practices.

The partnership with the IFC and the World Bank Group not only carries strategic significance for ACP2, but also underscores AIG’s strong commitment to sustainable development and its long-term vision for Vietnam’s deep processed agricultural sector.
Pham Hoang Van, project leader at IFC, said: “The cooperation between IFC and AIG is part of the World Bank Group’s Agriconnect initiative, which aims to strengthen agricultural connectivity in support of sustainable development goals. The groundbreaking of Asia Coconut Processing Plant II marks the development of a new and modern facility for Vietnam’s coconut industry, while also laying the foundation for a more sustainable and globally competitive agricultural model.”
Earlier, AIG held a meeting with Masayuki Omoto, president and CEO of Marubeni Corporation, and his delegation to strengthen ties with international partners and support the group’s ambition of building a globally competitive business while expanding export opportunities for Vietnam’s natural ingredients.

With a long-term and integrated strategy, Asia Ingredients Group is steadily expanding the role of Vietnamese agricultural ingredients in global value chains. The groundbreaking of Asia Coconut Processing Plant II further reinforces AIG’s leading position in agricultural ingredient processing and marks another milestone in the group’s nearly-25-year journey of innovation, sustainable development, and international expansion, with the broader goal of helping Vietnam become a leading global hub for high quality agricultural ingredient processing and exports.
