Approval for three components of HCM Highway expected soon

HCMC – Approval for three more components of the Ho Chi Minh Highway project is forthcoming and when they are finished, the cross-country road will be complete, according to the Ministry of Transport.

For the Cho Chu-Trung Son T-junction component, its investment proposal has been appraised, while the conversion of forest land for constructing the section passing through the northern provinces of Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang is being finalized.

Investment approval for the 28.5-kilometer section is expected in the second quarter of this year, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

For the component of Rach Soi-Ben Nhat and Go Quao-Vinh Thuan with a total length of 52 kilometers, the ministry is finalizing the feasibility study and will send it to the Government for consideration and approval this month.

Meanwhile, authoritiea are preparing the feasibility study and arranging funding for the Co Tiet-Cho Ben component so that this component project could obtain investment approval this year.

The two components above are scheduled to have two lanes for automobiles, connecting Ho Chi Minh Highway via Highways No. 32 and No. 21.

The total investment of the two components is estimated at VND5,570 billion, which will be sourced from the mid-term public investment fund for the 2021-2025 period.

For the Co Tiet-Cho Ben component, most of the section that overlaps the Beltway No. 5 connecting Hanoi with eight provinces in northern Vietnam has been proposed to have 4-6 traffic lanes.
