HCMC – Vietnam plans to complete 1,188 kilometers of expressways in 28 projects nationwide in 2025, according to the Transport Construction Investment Management Authority.
Of these, 16 projects are overseen by the Ministry of Transport, while 12 are under the jurisdiction of local authorities. The projects are grouped into three categories.
The first group includes 15 key projects totaling 771 kilometers. These comprise 10 sections of the North-South Expressway, stretching from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa, as well as the Lo Te-Rach Soi Expressway, Component 3 of the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway, the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway, the Cao Lanh-Lo Te section, and Component 7 of Beltway No. 3 in HCMC.
The second group involves eight projects covering 281 kilometers, which face significant challenges such as land clearance and material shortages.
These include the Can Tho-Hau Giang and Hau Giang-Ca Mau expressways, the Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan Expressway, Component 1 of HCMC’s Beltway No. 3, Components 1 and 3 of the Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot Expressway, the Tuyen Quang-Ha Giang Expressway, and Component 1 of the Cao Lanh-An Huu Expressway.
The third group comprises five projects and one bridge section, totaling 136 kilometers. These require intricate and adaptive technical solutions to ensure both quality and timely completion.
Projects in this category include the J3-1 package near Phuoc Khanh Bridge on the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway, critical components of the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway, Components 3 and 5 of HCMC’s Beltway No. 3, the Tuyen Quang-Ha Giang Expressway, and the Cao Lanh-An Huu section.
Transport Minister Tran Hong Minh has called on local authorities, investors, and contractors to ensure an adequate and timely supply of essential construction materials, such as sand and stone. He emphasized the need to uphold construction quality while meeting deadlines. Minh also urged supervisory consulting units to intensify inspections and promptly address any issues to avoid delays.
