HCMC – The south-central province of Binh Dinh will host the first international powerboat races in Vietnam this week and next, marking the country’s inaugural entry into the realm of international powerboat racing competitions.

The UIM F1H2O and UIM-ABP AQUABIKE World Championships are collectively known as the Grand Prix of Binh Dinh 2024.

The UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship will take place between March 22 and 24, followed by the UIM F1H2O World Championship from March 29 to 31.

The Grand Prix is expected to attract 50,000 spectators, including 10,000 from abroad, and give a major boost to the local economy and ignite new interest in water sports.

Local hotels are rolling out special offers in preparation for the influx of visitors. Many 3-4 star hotels are providing room discounts of up to 50%, along with 10% off on food, beverages, and other services.

Tran Van Thanh, director of the provincial Department of Tourism, said Binh Dinh’s lodging sector has over 435 facilities with more than 13,600 guest rooms. “Our hotels are well-prepared to welcome 30,000 to 50,000 visitors.”
