HCMC – The Binh Phuoc government has proposed the Government allow developing the Ma Da bridge to connect the province with Dong Nai Province.

The bridge is aimed at shortening the distance between Binh Phuoc Province and the Long Thanh international airport project by over 60 kilometers and helping connect Binh Phuoc as well as the Central Highlands provinces with the Cai Mep-Thi Vai port, heard a working session between the provincial government and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on March 20.

Ma Da bridge, spanning the river of the same name, will be part of the Provincial Road 753 upgrade and expansion project with total investment of VND655 billion sourced from the State budget.

Under the plan approved by the prime minister in September last year, Provincial Road 753 will be upgraded into National Highway 13C running from Dong Xoai City in Binh Phuoc Province to Dong Nai Province’s Trang Bom District, the local media reported.

Earlier in 2013, Binh Phuoc Province deployed a plan to upgrade the provincial road and build the bridge with a total capital of VND173 billion, but had to suspend the project as Dong Nai Province disagreed to develop the Ma Da bridge. In addition, Dong Nai also blocked roads and banned ferries from operating in the Ma Da river due to the fear that the Dong Nai nature-culture conservation area would be affected.

Speaking at the working session, the prime minister assigned the Ministry of Transport to promptly work with the governments of Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai and other relevant agencies to reach a consensus on the project upgrading Provincial Road 753 and building the Ma Da bridge.
