HCMC – Binh Thuan Province yesterday, February 16, wrote to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism seeking permission to host the National Tourism Year 2023.

According to the province’s dispatch sent to the ministry, the province will meet requirements to host the National Tourism Year in 2023 through a wide range of efforts.

During its establishment and development, Binh Thuan has always set a target to turn the tourism sector in the province into a spearhead economic sector. Therefore, the province has taken measures to fully tap its potential in terms of natural resources and a diverse culture with a wide range of festivals and traditional craft villages to develop its specialty travel products.

The coastal province has also made efforts to build the Binh Thuan tourism brand by successfully hosting national and international events, such as the International Yacht Festival and the Professional Windsurfing Association World Cup.

The province is also effectively implementing a scheme to develop Binh Thuan into a national sports and tourism center, and mapping a zoning plan for the Mui Ne national tourism area.

Currently, 594 lodging facilities are operating in the province, with nearly 17,600 rooms, excluding nearly 1,000 tourist apartments and villas. Besides, there are around 400 eateries, shopping and entertainment venues.

The total number of employees working in the industry has reached some 22,300, with around 80% of them having received training in terms of tourism.

Given the Covid-19 pandemic leaving a major impact on the tourism industry, Binh Thuan still remains among the safe and attractive destinations.

During Tet or the Lunar New Year, Binh Thuan served over 75,000 tourists. Moreover, many large-scale tourist projects are offering their services, including the Centara Mirage Resort Mui Ne and the Sea Links Beach Hotel. Many other projects are nearing completion, such as the Apec Mandala Wyndham Mui Ne and Novaworld Phan Thiet.

Further, the province is focusing on building new roads and upgrading the existing ones linking coastal tourist sites with urban areas, aimed at boosting the growth of local tourism.

It is also coordinating with the ministries and agencies to facilitate the construction of the North-South Expressway section passing through the province so that it can be completed by 2022, in addition to executing the Phan Thiet airport project.
