HCMC – Lam Dong Province has unveiled a master plan to develop the Mui Ne National Tourism Area into an international beach destination by 2050, covering nearly 15,000 hectares.

Under the plan, the national tourism zone will span about 14,760 hectares and be developed around what authorities described as one coastal corridor, three tourism centers and multiple sea access routes.

Officials said the project aims to create a more integrated tourism ecosystem, improve competitiveness and support sustainable growth.

Within the province’s new development framework after administrative consolidation, Mui Ne has been designated as a maritime gateway linking the Central Highlands with the coastal belt and the southern key economic region.

In recent years, the Mui Ne-Phan Thiet area has recorded strong tourism growth, gradually reinforcing its position on both the domestic and international travel map.

One notable infrastructure project is the 75-hectare Phan Thiet Airport, whose civil aviation component got off the ground on April 27 with total capital of VND3.9 trillion. The airport is expected to shorten travel times and improve connectivity with major economic and tourism centers.

Under the plan, the Mui Ne National Tourism Area is projected to welcome around 14 million visitors by 2030. That figure could rise to 25 million by 2040 and 35 million by 2050.

The province will also launch its 2026 Summer Tourism Season program, kicking off a series of demand stimulus activities under the theme “Come to Lam Dong – Hunt the Clouds, Ride the Silver Waves,” with tourism, cultural, and entertainment events scheduled throughout the summer.
