HCMC – Over 15 high-quality Canadian food products will be made available on Shopee, an e-commerce platform active in Vietnam, from May 14.

On May 11, the Canadian Government officially organized an event introducing a campaign titled “Canada, Bet It’s Extremely Good!” to promote Canada’s renowned food on the digital platform.

The campaign, as part of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Canada and Vietnam, aims to help Vietnamese people get easy access to high-quality Canadian food that meets the world’s stringent standards at reasonable prices.

Speaking at the event, Jeffrey Lang, the Canadian Government representative, said that Canada’s agricultural export to Vietnam has been diverse in recent years, ranging from staple cereals, oilseeds, seafood, beef, pork and fruits to processed food products.

In 2022, Canada’s exports of beef products to Vietnam grew a robust 55%, with Vietnam being one of the two largest import markets for Canadian beef in Southeast Asia.

Last year also saw Canadian agricultural and seafood exports to Vietnam reaching almost CAD416 million, equivalent to over VND7,200 billion, a 34% increase against the previous year.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, the Canadian Government will launch many significant cooperation activities and sign agreements to reinforce the strong bilateral relationship, especially the cooperation in the agricultural sector, said Behzad Babakhanj, Consul General of Canada in HCMC.
