Charting course for tourism growth

HCMC has set a target of generating VND330 trillion in tourism revenue in 2026, alongside goals of attracting 11 million international visitors and 50 million domestic travelers. To meet these targets, the city plans to roll out a broad strategy focused on developing signature tourism products, upgrading infrastructure, stepping up promotion, accelerating digital transformation, and tapping the potential of its districts and localities. The plans were outlined by delegates at a conference reviewing HCMC’s tourism performance in 2025 and setting key priorities for 2026, held in the city on December 30. The tourism sector rebounded strongly in 2025 after a difficult period, with international arrivals reaching 8.56 million and domestic visitors nearly 45.6 million. Tourism revenue rose to about VND279 trillion, exceeding the annual target by 101%. Building on this momentum, city authorities see 2026 as a year to scale up both visitor numbers and spending.
