Given the huge number of weekly and monthly running events, and the presence of professional organizers, running competitions are now in vogue. Not only encouraging the physical training movement, running events also contribute to tourism and economic development, and cultural promotion. According to many amateur runners, they are willing to spend money attending running competitions held in localities other than theirs to have new experiences. This is why many running events are held outside of big cities but still attract thousands of runners from afar. The running movement is developing strongly in the tourism province of Lam Dong. The province organizes several running competitions a year, including the well-known Dalat Ultra Trail, Dalat Music Run, Lam Dong Trail, and Laan Trail. Lam Dong is expected to organize its first nocturnal running event in November this year. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, vice director of the province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said such running competitions attract over 20,000 local and foreign runners a year, and hundreds of thousands of supporters.
