HCMC – Coteccons, one of Vietnam’s leading construction companies, awarded 218 scholarships worth a total of VND327 million (US$12,800) to children of construction workers across the country at a ceremony held on August 9.
The scholarship award ceremony was under the “Coteccons – Saigon Times Foundation 2025 Scholarship” program which targets school children from grades 6 to 9 who have achieved academic results of “Fair” or higher. Each scholarship is worth between VND1 million and VND2 million, and includes essential school supplies. The initiative is designed to provide both financial relief and moral encouragement, helping students remain in school, nurture their ambitions, and expand their knowledge.
The 218 scholarships are fully funded by Coteccons and implemented in partnership with the Saigon Times Foundation—a philanthropy organization with more than 22 years of experience in education and community work. The collaboration supports human capital development while helping businesses expand their philanthropic impact.

At the ceremony, Coteccons Chairman Bolat Duisenov recalled receiving a bicycle from his uncle as a childhood reward for academic excellence, an early gift that he said set him on a path to higher ambitions. Through this story, he urged the scholarship recipients to keep pushing forward in their studies.
“More than 30,000 workers on our construction sites are the backbone of Coteccons’ billion-dollar ambitions and global goals,” Duisenov said. “Supporting their children is part of our duty. It helps workers build stable homes, nurture the next generation, and keep their own dreams alive,” he emphasized.

Inspiring learning through exploration
After the scholarship award ceremony, the students from HCMC and neighboring provinces took part in an educational tour, which took in both historic and modern landmarks such as the Independence Palace, Central Post Office, and Landmark 81—the tallest building in Vietnam and an architectural icon constructed by Coteccons. Organizers hope the trip would inspire students and broaden their horizons.

A core initiative of “Xây Tết 2025”
This year’s scholarship program marks its first launch as a flagship activity under “Xây Tết 2025,” themed “Laying the Foundation for Dreams.” The initiative aims to honor and support the children of construction workers, reflecting Coteccons’ commitment to building not only physical structures but also lasting opportunities for families.
Over the past three years, “Xây Tết 2025” has become a hallmark of Coteccons’ corporate social responsibility, reaching 163 construction sites, delivering over 45,000 gift packages, and providing free medical check-ups for more than 25,000 workers. The company also runs ongoing welfare programs such as “Cooling Drinks in the Summer Heat,” “Warm Clothes for the Cold Season,” and “Hearty Late-Night Meals,” alongside initiatives for childcare and skills training.
Founded on August 24, 2004, Coteccons serves as the general contractor for the design and execution of many large-scale projects nationwide. The company has been listed on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange since December 9, 2009, under the code CTD.
