HCMC – People in HCMC are required to sign a pledge for declining to get Covid vaccine booster shots and must bear responsibility if they spread the disease, said the HCMC government.
The municipal government on June 24 asked the authorities of Thu Duc City and all districts across the city to continue their efforts to encourage local people to receive the booster doses.
Enterprises active in the city were told to make a list of employees eligible for a second booster shot, which counts as a fourth dose for people who received the Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines. Then, they have to coordinate with the local authorities where they operate to organize on-site vaccination drives.
The HCMC Department of Information and Communications has to team up with Viettel Telecom in HCMC to work to send vaccination reminder messages to those eligible for the booster shots.
The HCMC Health Department has to publicize a list of fixed and pop-up vaccination sites, as well as vaccination results in each locality on its website on a daily basis.
Local medical centers must quickly receive all the vaccine doses allocated and ensure more than 90% of the population in their areas receive a third dose, equivalent to a first booster shot, and those eligible for a fourth dose must get vaccinated.
The municipal government asked all the districts and Thu Duc City to use up the doses allocated and avoid vaccine wastage, including the expired doses.
The city’s government said that booster shot rejecters must sign a pledge and take responsibility if they cause the disease to spread.
Asides from HCMC, many other provinces such as Binh Phuoc and Soc Trang earlier had asked their residents to make the same commitments. Such request has been opposed by many epidemiologists, reported Thanh Nien newspaper.
