HCMC – A code of conduct for cyberspace compiled by the Information and Communications Ministry, which will require both internet users and internet service providers to comply with Vietnam’s laws and respect the legal rights and interests of organizations and individuals, especially the rights of children, will be issued by the end of this year, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung said at a meeting on November 9.
The Information and Communications Ministry submitted the code of conduct for cyberspace to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc for consideration and approval in April.
Besides this code of conduct, the ministry has been tasked with developing a scheme on protecting and supporting children in cyberspace during the 2010-2025 period.
The scheme includes setting up an agency responsible for receiving reports about content related to child abuse and applying technology, Artificial Intelligence and big data to quickly detect and remove child abuse content from the internet.
As part of the scheme, the ministry proposed various measures to deal with fake news and equip children with the necessary skills to protect themselves from harmful content when using the internet.
This scheme is also scheduled to be put in place this year.
The ministry has established a national cyberspace safety management center, which is capable of processing 300 million pieces of news a day to detect harmful and toxic content. The ministry has asked popular social media platforms such as Facebook and YouTube to remove a series of videos and posts with harmful matter. The content that needs to be removed has increased by dozens of times year-on-year.
