HCMC – Phu Quoc Express JSC, in coordination with the relevant units, launched a high-speed boat service between Danang and Ly Son Island off the central province of Quang Ngai yesterday, March 29, to meet the travel demands of local residents and tourists.
Phu Quoc Express plans to operate the first boat on the route on April 9, starting with four weekly trips. The boat will depart at 8:00 from the Ha River port in Danang to Ly Son on Tuesdays and Saturdays, while leaving Ly Son for Danang at 14:00 on Wednesdays and Sundays. After the trial period, the company will operate two daily trips.
The service operator will offer economy tickets at VND590,000-720,000 per trip and VIP tickets at VND900,000 each. On the occasion of the launch, the company is offering a 20% discount until April 30.
Ngu Thi Dieu Binh, vice general director for trade at Phu Quoc Express, said its fleet comprises 11 high-speed boats, with each carrying 300-1,000 passengers. He added that the company has gained experience in operating the service to other local tourist islands such as Phu Quoc and Con Dao. With these advantages, the new service is expected to facilitate travel between the central coastal city of Danang and the island district of Ly Son.
The high-speed boat service is also a new travel product, contributing to promoting local tourism in the new normal. It will also shorten the travel distance between Danang and Ly Son to around two hours.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Tran Phuoc Son, vice chairman of the Danang government, said this new service would diversify local travel products to attract tourists to the localities after a long period of travel restrictions induced by the Covid pandemic.
